About me
Wholeness leads to healing. I guide my clients to accept all parts of themselves and find balance in their lives. I entered the field of counseling with a passion for treating trauma (big T and little t trauma). Along the way I gathered some exceptional tools for doing so, including EMDR and a somatic approach to psychotherapy. Not so far removed from trauma, I have also developed a specialty in treating addiction of all kinds. I have seen the power of emotional healing to transform people's lives in ways they always wanted but didn't know how. I am here to help whenever the client is ready to do that brave and powerful work.
Education
I earned my Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Carolina University in 2011 Since then I have been seeking out Masterful teachers, trainers, and supervisors to continue my education as a counselor and healer. I completed an EMDRIA approved EMDR training in 2017.
Personal Experience
As much as I value formal education, I cannot help but notice that life experience has grown me professionally in equal or greater amounts than even the excellent formal education I've pursued. Life experience has given me intimate depth and insight into my healing art. Chiron, the archetypal 'wounded healer' from Greek mythology, teaches us that healing isn't about acting upon another to heal them but about getting obstacles to healing out of the way so the subject can heal themselves. Personal experience with self-healing helps the healer know what barriers to health are afflicting the subject. It also allows the healer to describe the path of healing that the subject will embark upon to alert them of the terrain ahead so they can be prepared and feel supported.
